Whether you like it or not, scrunchies have made a comeback! I happen to be in the 'happy scrunchies are back' camp, because not only are they super cute (especially if they are made from floral fabrics) but they are also super practical as well (and they don't leave my hair full of kinks like other hairbands do)! I made a heap of these for a market stall I had recently, and thought I would share how I went about making them here today!
What you'll need:
- Some pretty fabric
- Cotton thread
- A needle
- Elastic to your preffered length
Step 1: Cut out a 50cm x 10cm rectangle. A paper template might make this a bit easier to cut out.
Step 2: Fold rectangle in half, right sides together, and sew along the raw edge using a sewing machine.
Step 3: Fold the rectangle (now a tube) right side out and attach a small safety pin to one end of your elastic strand.
Step 4: Push the safety pin through the tube, being careful to hold onto the other end of the elastic. Once pushed through completely remove the safety pin and tie the two ends of the elastic strand together.
Step 5: Push one of the raw edges of the tube into the other and hand stitch the two seams together.
Step 6: Your scrunchie is ready to wear!
Hope you love making and wearing your own scrunchies! I've been wearing mine pretty much daily since making it! x
